About the Award
The purpose of the D-8 NPRI Research and Innovation Award is to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements in research, innovation, and commercialization that contribute to the shared development goals of D-8 member countries. The award aims to encourage excellence among researchers, innovators, and institutions who demonstrate impactful solutions addressing real-world challenges in areas such as technology, sustainability, health, and socio-economic growth. It also serves to strengthen cross-border collaboration, inspire young researchers, and promote a culture of innovation within the D-8 community, ultimately enhancing the global visibility and competitiveness of research and innovation across member states.
Objectives
Main Objectives & Functions:
- Promote joint research projects across the D-8 countries in areas of common interest, especially those that can help sustainable development.
- Strengthen linkage among universities, industry, and training/technical institutes to ensure research outputs are relevant and can be transferred/applied.
- Share research infrastructure, labs, facilities, and human resources (including research fellow exchanges) among member states.
- Inspire and support innovation, including through innovation hubs, incubators, maybe challenge/fellowship programs for young researchers.
- Increase investment in R&D in the D-8 countries, to build capacity, indigenous technology, and enable economic growth.

Interested participants can submit their applications through the D-8NPRI website. Selected candidates will be invited to present at TIM.

TIM2023 specialized panel discussions will include:
- Industrial Cases/Costumer Insights: designed to get familiar with different points of view from venture capitals, start-ups and other premier actors in the international ecosystem.
- Getting to know other country’s start-up regulatory frameworks, the challenges and solutions.
We welcome investors and government organizations’ representatives, who actively play the accelerating role in growth of startups in the international arena.

Investing plays the most significant role for a start-up’s success path, in this regard D-8 TTEN Secretariat is planning to hold a meeting to synergize between innovators and investors globally via “TIM”.
It will be a unique opportunity to meet international investors and VCs around the world and can be a great way to gain some international experience.
